Sometimes it can be a bit hard to figure out how to attract the right customer into your business. It often starts with the fact that you’re really just looking for … anybody who might decide to spend money with you.
That’s all it takes, right?
Well, not exactly. No doubt you’ve had experience with customers who have made your life hell:
- They’re never satisfied with the product
- They’re using it in the wrong way
- They go spread vicious stories about you
- They want ridiculous discounts
- They have no respect for you
Where am I going with this? Well, sometimes these people can help you figure out who a great customer is.
Let’s look at that second one – using the product in the wrong way. OK, they’re an idiot, but there may be something deeper here. Perhaps they were trying to apply your product to the wrong problem, and there’s no way they could expect to be successful.
So … what’s the RIGHT problem, for which your product is a slam-dunk solution? Even an idiot could use it properly? Maybe your answer isn’t to go after anyone with money, but someone who has the right problem.
And if there IS no right problem, then go change your product. Any product should be good for SOMETHING, right?
